Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation (ADBIC) is an industrial development and investment company created to facilitate the expansion of sustainable industry in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Established in 2007, ADBIC is wholly-owned by the Abu Dhabi Government’s General Holding Corporation (GHC) and focuses on the base metals (aluminum, steel and copper), petrochemical and other industrial sectors.

ADBIC acts as a catalyst for building a globally-competitive core of commercially-viable industrial activity through public-private partnerships across the industrial value chain, linking upstream, midstream and downstream sectors. Our current investments include: Emirates Steel, the largest integrated steel plant in the UAE, and Abu Dhabi Polymers Park, the first industrial zone in the UAE dedicated to the plastics conversion industry.

ADBIC supports Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and economic diversity within the Emirate through the development of industrial clusters, the first such model in the UAE. We leverage the unique combination of global competitive advantages that Abu Dhabi offers to build industrial supply chains and create opportunities via capacity building, cooperation with group companies and joint ventures.

At ADBIC, we identify and analyze feasible opportunities, source technical suppliers and employ a strategy of acquisition and alliances to develop, expand and privatize companies to drive profits. Ultimately, we seek to partner with industry leaders to create alliances based on complementary competencies, resources and know-how.

Above and beyond industrial development, economic diversification and lucrative investing, ADBIC is driven by a social mission. We adhere to the strictest environmental standards and endeavor to be an exemplary model of social responsibility. On a national level, we actively support the government’s Emiratization initiatives by developing the skills, exposure and employment opportunities of UAE nationals.
